Adaptive summer camp, ages 6 to 15

Camp days by the water, planned around each camper

Skiff is a summer camp in Mount Juliet with an accessible pool and dock. Campers walk down to the lake together, and we plan each day with your family first.

The grounds

Everything on the grounds can be reached

The pool, the dock and every path between them were built so that a camper can arrive by any route.

  • The pool

A pool with a ramp entry and a lift, so every camper gets in the water their own way.

  • The dock

A wide dock with a firm surface and rails, for fishing, boats and sitting with feet in the water.

  • Smooth paths

Firm, level paths join the shed, the pavilion, the garden and the water.

  • Shade and seats

Shade at every stop, with benches along the way and seats at every table.

  • A quiet room

A cool room with low light, away from the noise, open to any camper who wants a break.

  • Wide doors

Wide doors and open floors in every building, and parking beside the front path.

A camp day

A water day, with a quiet hour after lunch

Monday and Wednesday are water days. Every day has lunch together and a quiet hour, so the afternoon starts rested.

Safety routines

  • Water days

Monday and Wednesday are water days. Every camper in the water wears a life jacket, a lifeguard watches from the deck, and a counselor is beside each camper who wants one.

  • Support planned with you

Before the first day we talk with your family by phone and write down what helps your camper. Counselors read the plan each morning.

  • A quiet hour

After lunch the lights go low. Campers choose a book, music with headphones, drawing or a rest, in the shade or in the quiet room.

  • Sun, shade and heat

Every stop has shade and water. The busiest blocks are in the cooler morning, and on a very hot day activities move indoors and we text families.

  • Medicine and allergies

Tell us at registration, and we ask what we need privately. Staff trained in medication keep it and give it, and a camper who feels ill stays with a counselor until you arrive.

  • Sign-in and pickup

An adult on your list signs your camper in and out at the front path, and we ask for ID until we know you.

Questions

What families ask us

Who is camp for?

Skiff is for campers ages 6 to 15, with up to 35 campers a week. We welcome campers with different needs; tell us about your camper on the call before the first day.

Can my camper get in the water?

Water days have a supported way in for everyone: a pool with a ramp and a lift, and a dock with rails. Every camper wears a life jacket, and your camper chooses how much time to spend in the water.

What is the quiet hour?

After lunch the lights go low and the day slows down. Campers read, draw, listen to music with headphones or rest, in the shade or in the quiet room.

What if my camper needs a break?

The quiet room is open all day. A counselor goes with your camper, and campers return to the group when they are ready.

Does anyone on the team speak Spanish?

Yes. Anabella Delvalle, the director, and Florentino Lazo, the aquatics and safety lead, speak Spanish with families by phone, at drop-off and at pickup. Our pages and forms are in English.

How do I register?

Pick your weeks on our registration page, or call and tell us about your camper first. Registration opens in January, and full weeks have a waitlist.
